Learning model/curriculum
The teaching and learning programme offered at secondary level at MacKillop Catholic College is based on student centred learning and provides a wide range of subject choices to Higher School Certificate levels, excellent courses in Religious Education, Vocational Education and Training courses to HSC level, integration of information technology skills, key competencies and literacy and numeracy across the curriculum. The College offers special programs for gifted students and for those with specific learning difficulties.
Recently, our College has been adopting teaching and learning methods that form part of Ron Ritchhart’s Cultures of Thinking Routines.

VET, Careers & Pathways
At MacKillop Catholic College there are a range of Vocational Education and Training options. Students studying a TVET course (TAFE delivered VET), an external VET course or a School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship are obligated by the rules and regulations of the Registered Training Organisation delivering the course.
VET courses delivered on-site at MacKillop Catholic College are Business Services, Construction, Entertainment Industry and Kitchen Operations. A Handbook for VET Students outlines the nature of VET courses and the expectations, obligations and rights of students studying VET courses at MacKillop. Work placement is a mandatory requirement for VET course as part of the NSW HSC.
Our Pathways & Partnerships program links learning to the real world, providing students with practical opportunities and exposure to current industry information, allowing our students to make informed decisions at each stage of their school journey and beyond.

At MacKillop Catholic College we are committed to the application of technologies to enhance learning. The MacKillop Education Model supports future readiness and in doing so the College commits itself to delivering learning that is supported by diverse methodologies including the integrated use of technology in the learning curriculum. To support families and students, the College is introducing a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program from 2025 onwards. It is expected that the College will transition from its current iPad usage to a laptop commencing in Year 5 to Year 12.
